Road to Cair Paravel

This is a dirt road leading east and west along the narrow peninsula that extends from the Narnian mainland to the castle of Cair Paravel. The ground below is earth mixed with sand from the beaches that stretch both north and south from here. The road climbs gradually up a hill as it moves east, and at the top stands Cair Paravel in all its turreted splendor against the open sky. To the west is the center of Sted Cair, the small town which has grown up next to the heart of Narnia.

You can go: Beach <N>, Beach <S>, The Gates of Cair Paravel <E>, Town Square <W>

Lanisen keeps moving, aiming for the town.

A wolf with piercing eyes and a scar along her shoulder pads along the road, ears flicking this way and that.

Mateo walks up the road from the direction of the town, he seems to be heading towards the Castle.

Nobility in the Gardens

Central Garden

You can easily discern this as the center of the royal gardens – a great fountain decorates the courtyard’s center point. It is a scuplture of a grand lion, standing over the water’s edge. This lion is not insignifigant though – it is an artist’s tribute to the ruler of all Narnia, and a portrait of a noble character.

At all four points of the compass a paved path leads to the corners of the courtyard, North, East, South and West. To the east lies the entrance to the grand hall of Cair Paravel, and to the west, the gates of the castle. North and South lead to flower gardens, where one might sit for a spell.

The sides of the paths here are lines with decorative posts and ribbons, leading from east to west to form an aisle (going delicately around the fountain). It appears that the garden to the east has been set up for some kind of ceremony.

You can go: North End of the Courtyard <N>, South End of the Courtyard <S>, Royal Gardens <E>, To the west courtyard <W>

Mateo is sat at one of the benches in the garden, he has a small, somewhat complicated looking instrument perched on his knee and he’s playing a merry little tune, seemingly to pass time time as it’s not particularly recognisable.

Avery is walking through the garden, appearing to be in deep thought. Her hands are clasped in front of her, fingers entwined. When she gets closer, she realizes there is music playing and searches for the source.

Mateo pauses the playing a little, clicking one of the keys with a slight frown before continuing, trying to avoid the misbehaving key.

Round 2

Sted Cair Town Square

You stand in the middle of Sted Cair’s Town Square, the social hub of the  township.  All around you the citizens of Sted Cair are enjoying the fine  weather as they travel through, going about their daily business.

The square itself is somewhat parklike, dominated in the center by a large grey marble statue of Aslan.  The lion is seated and looks toward the east where Cair Paravel stands and his own land lies far beyond the ocean.  His expression, while impressive, is neither menacing nor sedate.  Instead, it simply looks majestic.  A plaque underneath the statue simply reads, “Aslan”.

Streets lead in all four directions out of the square. There are buildings at each corner as well.  To the northeast is the Explorer’s shop, and the Fruit Market sits under an impressive pavillion to the northwest.  The Satyr’s Hoof Tavern lies to the southwest, and Grumich’s Pawnshop is southeast.

You can go: Fruit Market <NW>, North <N>, Explorer’s Shop <NE>, Pawnbroker <SE>, Road to Cair Paravel <E>, South Road <S>, West Road <W>, Tavern <SW>

Mateo is sat at the base of the statue, sipping from a waterskin and watching the goings on of the square.

Deonyc comes walking into the town square a fishing pole over one shoulder and a line with three trout on it, they seem quite fresh.

Mateo waves as he passes, “Been fishing?”

Practice Grounds

You find yourself on a pretty, grassy lawn that runs along the north side of Cair Paravel’s main tower.  Most of it has been trampled quite a bit by feet and hooves of various sizes, as it’s been used as a training field for Cair Paravel’s resident knights.  There are a number of flagstone paths, though, that run around the perimeter toward some outbuildings.  There is a stable to the north, a wide, stocky watchtower to the northeast, and to the distant east at the end of the peninsula, the naval pier is being constructed. You can see the ocean beyond, stretching out in its twinkly blueness toward the horizon.  There isn’t much of a beach that you can detect from here, though.

A door in the north tower leads back into the castle.

Mateo is taking the opportunity of some quiet time to do a bit of sword drill, he uses a wooden training sword and occasionally strikes at a dummy that’s been set up.

Deonyc is doing his usual stretches before he goes into actual training and has various practice weapons set up, once he is done he does some stance drills with a partner

Mateo happens to catch sight of Deonyc and pauses, waiting for a break in Deonyc’s training before calling out, “Hello there”
